Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic protestors were confined to their homes, spectating as the government looted and pillaged tax payer coffers giving 1 Trillion per day to banks, hedge funds and private equity companies to save Wall Street, and Billions to corporations (Not Real Small Businesses) to save jobs. Meanwhile, 40 Million Americans were added onto the Unemployment Benefits que, and many are yet to receive money for their claims. The government then proceeded to ration out a measly $1,200 to qualified applicants to survive through a pandemic.
The Unlawful Murders committed by members of law enforcement against unarmed black men and women is just kindling to the fire looming with civil discord. In broad daylight, for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the Minneapolis Police Department negligently and cruelly asphyxiated Mr. Floyd using a chokehold which led to a lack of blood flow to Mr. Floyd’s brain and caused his death.Disappointingly, Mr. Floyd’s state-sponsored execution was not an isolated incident. It was but the latest chapter in a centuries-long history of supremist violence that has taken the lives of far too many people of color.
This moment demands that each of us—especially those of us who are not Black—act with great urgency in defense of universal civil liberties, to support the work of ending police brutality, with legislature and policy change to bring forth a justice in a world where Black people are truly free and liberated.
Archaic policy and systemic oppressive practices towards people of color five decades after the Civil Rights Bill was issued is five decades too long to endure. Such underlying injustice has fueled our mission to make the process for legal defense, bond allocations, and lobbying for progressive policy agendas most concerning to civil protesters and demonstrators.
